LYNNMOUR CHRISTMAS MARKET – DECEMBER 14th 2016

Dear parents,

It is hard to believe, but Christmas is almost here again! With that in mind, we would like to invite you to do magic for all our students and make the beloved Christmas market happen again.
The Christmas market is scheduled for Wednesday, December 14th, and we will need lots of volunteers both on that day and for set-up on Monday and/or Tuesday.
We are also asking you to start collecting gently used items and to donate them so that they can be sold at our market. Please go through your house and ask friends and family and the community if they have anything to donate – anything that YOU would purchase yourself is worth collecting. (Please don’t give us broken or dirty items that you wouldn’t buy yourself.) You can start dropping off your donations as early as Tuesday, November 15th.  If you have large or small empty boxes or wrapping paper, bags, ribbons, tape etc., please drop them off as well.
For our new families: We set up our gym like a market. The kids are sent home with wish lists of who they would like to buy for in their family, and on the market day they come to school to “shop”. Things cost anywhere between 25cents to $5.00. We have wrappers that help the kids wrap, as well as raffles and door prizes.
This market is loved by the kids, and the joy they have buying special gifts for their family is heart warming.
Because this is such a big undertaking and we want it to be great for the kids, we need extra help leading up to the event. If we are unable to get enough volunteers (on top of the PAC execs) we may need to cancel the market.  Please know that this is the last thing we want – we just need more help.
Soon you will find sign-up sheets for various volunteer work on our PAC board. If you cannot come into the school to sign up, you can simply drop us an email, and we will be happy to put your name down for something.
The most help we will need is with

  • moving the donated goods into the designated storage area and sorting them. Sorting will take place every Tuesday morning at 8:45 and every Thursday afternoon at 5.
  • setting up the gym and tables (Monday/Tuesday)
  • taking down the market and tidying up Wednesday late afternoon
  • baking (for the bake sale)
  • getting some door prizes donated from local vendors
  • advertising for the public market after school
If you would like more information on the market, please join us at our next PAC meeting on November 21st at 6:30pm (babysitting provided) or simply send us an email.
We and the students appreciate all your help!
